Introduction

As an organization dedicated to empowering children and youth, Lendületes Fiatalok Egyesület places paramount importance on their safety and well-being. This Child Protection Policy outlines our commitment to ensuring a secure environment where children are shielded from harm and their rights are upheld. The policy has been endorsed by Lendületes Fiatalok Egyesület’s leadership and reflects best practices and legal guidelines to safeguard children involved in our programs. Guidance from child protection leaders such as UNICEF and Keeping Children Safe has been integral in shaping this document.


Key Definitions

Child: Any individual under the age of 18, as per the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Child Abuse: Any action or inaction that results in harm, exploitation, or neglect of a child, whether physical, emotional, sexual, or otherwise.

Personnel: Includes all staff, volunteers, contractors, and representatives engaged by Lendületes Fiatalok Egyesület.


Legal Framework

This policy aligns with international and national child protection standards, including but not limited to:

  • The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

  • National Child Protection Legislation (Act No. 34-2018).


Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All employees and volunteers of Lendületes Fiatalok Egyesület.

  • Contractors, consultants, and other representatives.

  • Partners, donors, and visitors participating in or observing our activities involving children.


Core Principles

  • Equality: Every child has the right to safety and protection, regardless of race, gender, ability, or background.

  • Zero Tolerance: Abuse in any form is unacceptable.

  • Best Interests: All decisions regarding child protection are guided by the best interests of the child.

  • Shared Responsibility: Everyone involved with Lendületes Fiatalok Egyesület is accountable for creating a safe environment for children.


Implementation Measures

Awareness:

  • Regular training sessions for all personnel on recognizing and addressing child safeguarding risks.

  • Accessible copies of this policy for all team members.

Prevention:

  • Comprehensive background checks for staff, volunteers, and contractors.

  • Inclusion of child safeguarding clauses in contracts and partnership agreements.

Reporting:

  • Clear procedures for reporting child protection concerns, ensuring confidentiality and swift action.

  • Designated Safeguarding Officer to oversee all reported incidents and subsequent actions.

Response:

  • Immediate support for affected children, including access to counseling and medical care.

  • Transparent investigations and appropriate disciplinary measures when violations occur.


Data Protection and Consent

Lendületes Fiatalok Egyesület ensures secure handling of personal information related to children. Consent from children and their guardians is mandatory before collecting, using, or sharing any data or images.


Expectations of Conduct

All individuals must:

  • Refrain from inappropriate physical contact with children.

  • Avoid actions that could be perceived as exploitative or abusive.

  • Report any suspicion of abuse promptly.

Prohibited behaviors include, but are not limited to:

  • Physical punishment.

  • Engaging in or encouraging discriminatory actions.

  • Failing to intervene when witnessing harmful behavior.


Monitoring and Review

This policy will be reviewed biennially or when significant changes occur within the organization or its operating environment. Feedback from children, parents, and staff will inform updates.
